SECOND HERO - Pippa

The second hero is associated with the second stanza of Guillaume Apollinaire's poem "Les sept épées" ("The seven swords"). Pippa isn't the first incarnation of this character but other incarnations went unnoticed and the current incarnations were only revealed thanks to the attention brought by Gwenvred being publicly known and recognized as a hero.

CHARACTER PROFILE

Full name: Awiti Philippa of Brunnera.

Pipa distanced herself from her full name after leaving her family. She couldn't- and wouldn't- use her first name, Awiti, as it was too recognizable and reminded her of difficult memories. Her second name is less recognizable and she is more comfortable with it but she still finds it too posh and prefers nicknames.

Meaning: Awiti is a Luo name meaning "someone birthed after a misfortune, such as a difficult birth process" and "thrown away". Philippa is the Latinate feminine form of the name "Philip" meaning "friend of horses" in Greek. Brunnera [1] is a genus of flowering plants. This surname follows the [placeholder 1] tradition of being named after the plants of one's home region or city.

Siblings: Heir Isingoma Elias of Brunnera, Heir of Brunnera (5-6 years older) and Mr. Ayele Mihail of Brunnera (5-6 years older), both of them are twins. Pippa takes care of two children with Jiahao, Kian (Ki) "Pumpkin" & Sun "Dragonfly", these children see them as parental figures, or brother/sister figures because of a closeness in age range, especially for the oldest.

Husband: Jiahao "Jia".

Backstory: Pippa comes from a family of rich merchants. Her father is very wealthy and inherited his business from his own father. He deals in textiles and specialize in rich and colorful hand-woven fabrics. Awiti's mother comes from a noble family with financial problems. Her father (Gwandoya of Brunnera) and her mother (Koralia Sybil) are in an arranged marriage and regard their union as purely transactional, akin to a business exchange, Gwandoya ascended to the low nobility and Koralia secured a wealthy life.

Pippa has two older twin brothers, the eldest (Isingoma Elias) is very similar to their parents and is destined to take over their dad's business. The youngest (Ayele Mihail), is less favored and chose to join the king's army to avoid being involved in the family's business.

As the youngest child and only girl of the family, Pippa was, in some respects, the favorite child but she was also the one her mother controlled the most. Awiti's (Pippa) duty to her family was to be fulfilled through a successful wedding, which Pippa was determinately against.

Her dream was to be travelling artist and to dance for a living. Thus she ran away from her family days before the wedding and survived in the city before meeting Jiahao's group. Further along in her life, she will reunite with Ayele.
